Standard 1: Integrated Curriculum / Projects

Literacy Fair 2016 PSA- Students followed county provided rubric to create a PSA for the upcoming Literacy Fair to be entered as a competition

December 2015- Debates: students worked in teams of 3 to debate topics in Karl-Popper style of debate; members of school administration attended (Principal- R. Pagano, Academic Coach-S.Henderson, Reading Coach- T. HAigh, AP- J. Miller, Academy Specialist- K. Barnette)
Standard 2: Career Focus

T-CAT students created multi-media projects for Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15). The students presented their projects. Most students used a variety of mediums to create their projects.

March 2016- Academy presentation to 8th graders



9th Grade:
November 2015- Attend a production at Dr. Phillips Center- Interview cast and crew members (tentative)- Trip not approved due to use of derogatory term used in one scene of the play


January 2016- Informative Trip to Full Sail: Real world experience; explanation of tools of the trade for technology- Moved to 4th quarter, combined trip with school's AVID program

Plan or Status:
Articulate with 8th grade teachers on advisory board as well as other 8th grade teachers during the following events:
*Open House: students created a display board as well as 1-2 sentences on index cards about “what the Academy means to me” which were left on display table; students also took turns manning the display table to answer questions from parents. (September 9, 2015)
*High School Showcase: create display board; update brochure for academy; assign students to be present at table; t-shirts
